About Phillipe Phil Sobon


Hello Food World!

My name is Phillipe and I am a self taught cook/foodie/drinker amongst my many talents. I have been cooking since I was 14 and haven't stopped yet. My first ever dish was a ham and cheese casserole that I made for my ever so hard working mom. Needless to say she loved it (even though everything was pre-packaged) and wanted to see more from me. At that point I started progressing towards watching a lot and I mean a LOT of cooking shows on every network possible. Keep in mind that 10 years ago there weren't a lot of diverse cooking shows or competitions like there are now so the entertainment aspect was ok lol. I did it to learn and re-create the dishes.


Move forward to 14 years later and I have many cook books, recipe cards, magazines and countless hours of DVR'd cooking shows! This past year I was also a part of a cooking reality show that I can not speak further until it airs. Psssst I'll tell you as soon as it does though! So I will leave you with this blog to check out my recipes, tips, videos and the best restaurants you can go to while in Chicago and wherever else I may go!

Phillipe has been a finalist on MasterChef Season 5, a contestant on Food Network's Cooks vs. Cons Season 2, appeared on LIVE with Kelly & Ryan, USA Today, WGN, Windy City Live, a finalist for World Food Championships 2017, HMS Host 2017 finalist and has worked with Fabio Viviani and Graham Elliot. Has also cooked for Scott Conant, Geoffrey Zakarian and Lorena Garcia.
